Winter by the Sea
June 2016 update
Summer by the Sea now available
Hello everyone, how is your stitching going? I have some fabric in front of me with some threads on it, ready to tweak the design in my program, the fun part!! By my stitching chair is another project, mostly the stitching is completed, if I like the colours...... and then the 'billion' other things to do to take care of 'business' is what is in my sights today.
I did want to let you know that Summer by the Sea was shipped out to your LNS and distributors last week Monday look for it to come this week! I hope you have all found some interesting fabric to stitch the By the Sea series, there are lots of options and they will all be good I'm sure. When I was in Portland teaching someone had started on a greener shade of fabric and it looked great. My plan is to have Autumn by the Sea ready for July and Winter by the Sea ready for Sept at the Harvest Market Hop.
May 13, 14/16. I was up at Deer Valley Meadows Camp for the biannual retreat that The Frame Corner of Edmonton puts on, it was a lovely warm weekend and the Red Deer Valley view was terrific. Lots of fun stitching and we worked on the O Canada Sampler. If you are interested in doing this piece for the 150th Anniversary of Canada's beginnings- I did add some celebratory words to that note on the main graph if you wish to choose to use them. I have another celebratory project in mind, just trying to work out the details, look for it to come.
Calgary ladies for June 11 at Camp Kiwanas with the Stitching Corner retreat - for those of you taking the class, I will have 3 colourways for you to choose from to stitch the sampler just designed for your group! It will be fun and after this note I am going to write instructions for it! Looking forward to seeing what you will pick.
In a year from now, we will be readying ourselves to fly off to Paris and then catch the ship in Lyon, France to sail the Rhone. This river cruise will be just as amazing as our 'Down the Danube' and I have already started on the research to get just the right feel/items for our sampler of remembrance of the trip. I think I will probably call it 'Vive La France" but not quite positive. I think Judy Bradford has called the group this. I am stitching a little pre- cruise something for you to work on just like our ornament for the 'Christmas Wishes' trip. So look for it to come in Judy's newsletter. I believe the ship is full of our group, can you imagine a ship of stitchers!! and their friend/partner/spouse on the trip. It is sure to be as memorable as the Christmas Wishes tour and I am excited already.
This past week I went to the dedication ceremony of the Cathedral of the Redeemer Church Kneelers. I had tears in my eyes when I saw them completed. This was a 3 year project, 2 years for me to design these 13 kneelers (I did 7 patterns and one larger middle one) with the ladies of the church taking only a year to stitch them twice except for the big middle one. They stretch across the altar. The stitching looked great and the upholstery job made them look so professional! The project was the vision of a good friend Sheila Cook and I thank her for having faith in my ability to do this and persevering through all the different stages of the project.
This brings me to the upcoming summer event at The Silver Needle. How exciting, I am working on finishing the parts and then it will be writing the instructions. The threads and such have been ordered and now we will work on those kits. I look forward to meeting/seeing you all and if you have any questions on another project that you are working on of JDD, please don't hesitate to ask.It sounds like a fun week. How lucky we are to see each other again.
