Message: So I will be stitching this series and wanted to do it all on one piece of fabric. What would the design size be for all of them?
Answer:Cool, that makes me excited… okay, let’s work it out.. how much space do you want between pieces.
There will be 8 – so I am suspecting 2 x 4?
The pieces each are: 85 x 106 each
With what an inch between pieces? I am not sure how much one would want for the spacing, I haven’t thought that through. I’ll figure it out for an inch between, if we have a little extra that’s better than not enough, maybe ½” is enough, I would have to see it frankly.
Then we are dependant then on what count fabric… 36 ct divide by 18 and 40 ct divide by 20 – there adding 18 or 20 graph boxes to the 106 x 3 spaces between pieces length and 18 or 20 graph boxes to the x 1 space between pieces side.
Let’s pretend 40 ct for our number – so 106 x 4 +60 on the side that you put the 4 pieces – in this case it is the length
And 85 x 2 +20 on the side you put 2 pieces -this is side to side if we do 2 x 4
Therefore you have 484 x 190
So the count would be 2 pieces across by 4 pieces down – making the fabric minimum size 9.5 x 24.2 on 40 ct + 6” all around so the fabric cut on 40 ct would be 15.5 x 30.2” – does that make sense to you?
We’d have to divide the 190 x 484 by 18 for 36 ct-making that one 10.5 x 26.8 + 6” all around = 16.5 x 33” fabric cut.
But if you were to lay it out 4 wide by 2 deep, it would be opposite to lay the fabric out for stitching - does that help, or make you feel confused?
